40s super speeds are known (at least to me I guess) to be more aggressive than the following ones. The Red Tip being the most aggressive after the 40s, and it isn't as aggressive as that one.

Maybe somebody else can chime in but that is my experience.

Yes, you are correct in that the 40's SS is more aggressive than later years, but the Red Tip is more aggressive than it IMO. I am not including the pre-war Ranger Tech as it was not a SS.
Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

A quick update on the 40's SS. I put a Derby blade into this razor today and it tamed it down quite a bit. Just goes to show that it's not just the razor and it's not just the blade, it's the combination of the two that really makes a difference in shave quality. I could still feel a lot of blade on my face, but with the Derby it removed whiskers without removing layers of skin. Keep in mind, that I shave with straight razors about as often as safety razors, so I'm not shy about blade on skin. However, safety razor blades, being so thin, can actually be (in a really aggressive safety razor) much harsher than a well honed straight razor blade.
