I always got a harsh shave from these razors, one I sold a few years ago.
Having realized that they are designed with wedge blades in mind, I figured the angle might be an issue.
I used a spine from another GEM blades to form a wedge to correct the angle. I would post photos tonight.
But the result was a milder razor and a very comfortable shave.

It is a beautiful Razor.
Now you have tamed it.

Congratulations!

You're right. Since these were designed for wedge blades, changing the blade angle on a modern SE blade would make them tamer.

Strangely, I've always liked the aggressive shave of the ER lather catchers. I just used a shallower shaving angle and a very light touch. They would bite if I used bad technique, though. Smile

I, too, have a 1907 Ever-Ready lather catcher and it is one of my favorite SEs. I have only used a regular PTFE SE blade in it and don’t have a problem. I can only assume that, like yohannrjm, I have found an angle that works for me.

Frugal Shave over on Etsy sells 3D printed shims for those razors. I have not tried them as I have a supply of wedge blades, but some folks like them.
