Hello, everyone! Luis here.
Not much to say about me, only that I am Mexican born living in Arizona since the summer of 2000. Now proud U.S. citizens, my family and I have decided to stay here.
I have two grown children (born in 1997 and 2004 respectively). They are my greatest blessings.
When I noticed that my supply of cartridges was low back in January, I started looking for a fairly priced cartridge. I honestly do not remember how, but I do remember the first video I found was ShaveNation's Geo talking about safety razor shaving and got me hooked from then on. It wasn't long before I bumped into other known youtubers and finally decided to take the plunge.
By the time I was down to 1 cartridge left, I had acquired a King C Gillette, nothing else. No brush, bowl, soap or new cream, just my shiny razor. I knew it was going to take some time, so I switched from shaving in the morning to shaving at night. In other words, I was shaving with a cartridge on Mondays only and would maintain the shave with a daily electric razor shave. Now, I started shaving with my safety razor, at night, and shaving has become a relaxing ritual three nights per week.
My first experience was not great, but it wasn't bad. I shaved with my KCG, the blades that came with and my Cremo Palo Santo cream I had from before. I kept on watching videos, learning and practicing more. With time, I finally got my first BBS with close to no irritation. Also, I got a shaving brush, cream, a cheap bowl, an alum block, and a styptic pencil.
The KCG is the only razor I have bought new, the rest are all pre-owned and I love them all. The prominent are the Siim, the Fatboy and the Rockwell 6C.
I'm still trying to master lathering, and although I don't love the scent of the Arko, it has been a great learning soap for me.
Enough about me. I thank this community for the opportunity to learn, and the chance to share if I ever feel I have something worth sharing.
Happy shaves!
