I don't quite agree with that.   The ATT SE is quite different from a Mongoose, which is a different shave from an alumigoose which is quite different from a King Cobra.

Feather makes DE blades too, but that doesn't mean all DE razors shave the same.  I understand the thickness of the AC blade allows for far less changes in blade configuration, but you can still get very different angles of attack and blade exposure.  GEM PTFE blades are all the same, thick blade, non bendable, but there is a huge difference with some of the old SE shaves.   Right now it seems all the AC SE razors are similar, but they don't need to be.

Like I said, in my experience. Wasn't looking for an agreement that I already know I won't get. All faces are not the sameBig Grin

I guess the bold statement was what I was trying to get at. Oh well is just shaving, so no argument from me.

Like you said, it's your own experience. My experience has been that there is a difference in blades - especially in different razors. In the General, the Kai Captains worked best for me. Feather Pro's were too harsh.

So why this continues to become an argument?  Ok, I'll let the self proclaimed ambassadors and experts of wet shaving debate, I'm out!

Is not like this is a life saving item, jeez! Too funny!

I rather like Kai Captain Standards. Sharper than the milds, but still not as harsh as a new Feather Pro. That said, I have so many boxes of Feather Pros, they are about all I use if I am not using a straight.

I got the email asking for my paypal and thought the price was still at $79 so anything less is a bonus for me. I had some hesitation as the Mongoose just didn't work for me yet I would still like to find a razor that uses the AC blades. I hope this is the one.

Same here, I didn't like the Alumigoose at all. It shaves mild but too inefficient and left me with razor bumps trying to make up for it in my experience.

I'll still get the General though, cause I signed up for one, I can't go back on my word, aside from that it's fairly inexpensive.

The latest, from their Facebook page:
"We are currently in production for Batch 1. Our factory estimated shipping to us by August 5th."

Email from Colonial Razors: Batch 1 looks to be ready to ship, however they discovered a couple minor machining QC issues with the head assembly during final inspection. These will not effect the shave, and the email makes it clear how minor these are. The fix will be in for Batch 2. Accordingly, B1 will ship at reduced price of $49 + shipping.

We are going to give everyone on the B1 wait list a chance to receive one of the blemished ones. If we are unable to sell out to them, we will then email B2 wait listers. The razors will be sold to "non wait list" guys only if B1 and B2 guys are given an opportunity and pass.

It's definitely an unfortunate setback, but we aim to get it right on B2 and on.

Kind Regards,

Kyle @ Colonial Razors

Our GEM SE may be an open comb! Smile I worked a tad on it last Friday. Smile

hey kyle, nice to know your considering producing the gem razor down the road, considering how sharp, smooth and long lasting are the personna gem PTFE blades it would be shame not to have modern razor made for it besides the vintage ones.

Curious though, will choice of metals be aluminum only or stainless steel also?
