You know when you've been hearing about and thinking about something your whole life and you build it up in your mind and then when you actually go there you're disappointed? This wasn't like that. As a matter of fact the reality exceeded my built up imagination. A whole week without any signs of civilization and NO CELL SERVICE!! You know, the world kept turning.

very nice.  I've been to the grand canyon 2X now but have never been down to the bottom.

Having spent a week at the bottom I can say its really, really cool.  We had several geologists and some engineers on the trip so we got lots of technical information on all the beautiful rocks.  Looking at the canyon walls brightly illuminated by the moon as I drifted off to sleep was special as was waking up several hours later after the moon had set and being presented with such an incredible star display complete with Milky Way (and yes lots of fluttering bats).  We never used tents so it was incredible scenery 24 hours a day.  Minus the sleeping hours.

I went in 2004 and then in I believe it was 2016...when I went in 2016, the canyons were MUCH greener and covered with more shrubs/plants than they were in 2004 when I went.

I have family about 4 hours from the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Oh man, that sounds amazing. A little while back I went canoeing with a friend of mine in the Mark Twain National Forest (around the same parts where you were in when you came to Missouri) and we didn't have cell phone service. For the first day I was freaking out, thinking that my business was burning to the ground somehow, but once the initial withdrawal symptoms passed, it was pretty amazing. Definitely need to do that again soon.

As someone once said to me, my idea of roughing it is whether or not the Holiday Inn has an indoor pool.

We weren't really roughing it. Here is a picture of my bedroom. Talk about a room with a view!

I know - a lot of people's reaction on seeing them is that its a green screen or photo-shopped but everything I'm posting is as it was taken.  I tried to post a video of some white water action but haven't been able to.  Don't know why.

This is just upstream from where the Little Coloradeo River flows into the Colorado - it picks up calcium carbonate along the way and deposits it on the river bed giving the river a stunning azure blue colour in contrast to the Colorado's dark green  If I'd seen just a picture I'd have said photo-shop but no.



This carved out cavern was really cool - its almost as big as a football field inside.

Its not green screen or photo-shopped. Its simply mother nature at its finest and that's why its so jaw dropping beautiful. Thanks again for sharing them!
