Walgreen's is selling these pkgs. of nine blades for $5.99 which although isn't cheap, it's a start. I have shaved with one three times and so far it's spectacular!! These are made in Brazil and mine have a 'K' code which is either 1990 or 2006.  Huh  Regardless, it feels to my face exactly like the old Made in the USA Platinum Plus. Try it.  Wink

Whaaaaaaa? Now I want to go to every Walgreens I can tomorrow and see if I can find these. I saw rumors Gillette was re-launching a DE razor (never quite believed it). Maybe this is what that meant?

Edit: BPman Did you find these in the U.S.? Mind if I ask what city?

I'm in TX, but others have bought them in the Midwest as well I read. You may have to ask so scribble down the UPC code off the back of the box in the photo.

Why 9 blades? Because they can't actually make the blade smaller in the same size package like with cookies or candy bars? We live in a 10 world, that is except for those of us still on the imperial system of measurement, i.e., Liberia, Myanmar and the USA Smile Oh, and time too, clocks aren't based on 10. What a messy world we live in.

I hope the blades work well at that price.

Very interesting. I'll give them a try if I see them. However, it irks me that they seem to be packaged in 3 packs of 3 instead of 2 packs of 5. Even bringing back the Gillette name to the DE blade market they're still looking to chisel the men's shaving market.

if I stop in a local walgreens, I'll have to check to see if they are selling any gillette DE blades. I live across the street from a rite aid...I should check to see if they're selling any.

People, these blades were originally made by Gillette for Latin American consumption, i.e., the Third Word where people are poor. Hence, the three blade packs. These were never intended to be marketed here originally. These are NOS blades. As well, Gillette used to sell 3 blade packs in the USA in the 1960's when they first introd their modern stainless blade. I have some.

I bought these at a local Wal Green and found them to be very nice blades. I would also say that I have only tried about five different types with the low being Dollar Store Brand and the high being Gillette 7 O Clock yellows.

My next question would be, does anyone know if these Wal Green type blades be available in any other packaging and number of blades. Normally I purchase blades in either 50 or 100. Why, search me but I do.

I've found these in a few Walgreens in the San Francisco Bay Area. Usually only stocking a couple at a time, at $5.99 for three packages of three (consistent with the finding of others on this forum).

My initial feedback is positive - only in one of my aggressive OCs did they leave me feeling a bit raw, but otherwise, particularly with the iKon ShaveCraft Slant, the performance has been very good. I am moving onto my fifth shave tonight with no clear sign of deterioration as of yet.

A caveat that many blades work with me; however, I would tentatively classify this blade as similar to some of the Russian-made Gillettes, such as the Silver Blue or Black. It might be a tad sharper, and I would have to do a side-by-side comparison to confirm. If they are indeed NOS and repackaged (the back of the package says 2015, but I can't imagine new production unless Gillette is planning a more significant rollout and is testing the market), they might be a good pickup if you long to try an older blade.

Well, I have been doing a SxS objective test between this blade & a new NOS Platinum Plus from the 'Golden Age' and here are my results. I have done this as objectively as possible and by that I mean using one blade on one side of my face and other on the other side during the same shave. As well, I rotated sides on different days to be even more objective as quite frankly this has to be done at the same time to be more scientific and help eliminate day to day fluctuations. My opinion: there isn't any difference I can note. Nada. They are, for all intents & purposes, made with the same technology IMO. I used a Gillette Made in Canada pre-war Tech & a Schick Krona for the testing.
