Manuel will join the discussion and he might show a video with the balance (I just took a shot out of that video to show), I'm sure you can spin it around if you want to  Rolleyes

Length when open 238mm and closed 189mm, weight 61 gram and to answer the questions about the balance ?

Good answer!

At 61 grams, the weight is impressive too.  I own several shavettes, and
the heaviest two are a wood handle Feather DX and a "woody" handle KAI Captain, both of which weigh 56.0 grams.

I was following the design of this when on another forum that felt I didn't belong there anymore and lost contact. It came out beautiful and no doubt worth the asking price. Unfortunately it is priced beyond my entry as I don't use straights often enough to warrant it. BIG congrats to Manumik for getting this to production as I know from messages with him that he was meticulously refining and getting input on this BEFORE pushing the go ahead button. It is a BEAUTY !

So as promised, the video in which you can see how to load the Essence razor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB0FJfbewcA

Change the video quality to HD to see a better resolution.

Besides that, I will also give you some more details for all of you who have not signed up on our website.

First, there will not be a Kickstarter campaign. We planned to make one, but the marketing costs for a Kickstarter campaign became just too high over the past few years.
Therefore, we decided to launch with a limited production run of 333 Razors.
33 of them will go out with a 30% discount. Those who signed up on our website will be notified when we launch.

We also made the heartbreaking decision not to offer the razor-stand right from the beginning as production costs are quite expensive in such low quantities. If we see that there is a demand for what we are doing, we will definitely offer the stand ASAP with a discounted price for all of you who already have bought the Essence razor upfront. This breaks my heart because the stand was almost as important as the razor when I first designed the razor.
But as a startup, we have to make sure that there is a demand first.
Thank you for understanding!

Another point I would like to mention is the shipping.
Shipping from Switzerland is complicated, expensive, and can take a long time. Therefore, we are negotiating and coordinating with fulfillment centers in the USA and Germany (EU) to ensure that we give you reasonable and faster shipping.

The last point I would like to mention is the price point of Essence. We didn’t communicate that point because there are still some points we need to calculate (taxes, shipping, warehouse handling fees etc.)
But the price point will be around +- 300 Euros.

If you have more questions, feel always free to reach out.

Cheers,
Manuel

Thanks for sharing the video.
That's an interesting, blade loading, system.
I'm trying to figure out how the faceplate is able to slide shut, when a blade is loaded.
Is there a cut out section so that the blades are 'seated' within the razor head? If so, how does it affect the clamping...because there are no springs and AC blades are thicker than DE blades.
Hmmmmm!

Most of all...welcome to the forums and thanks for sharing your time. I've been following the development of this razor for a little while now.
