This deal was for a Paradigm 17-4 razor listed for $450 US, shipped from Germany to CONUS. I contacted him and he agreed to sell it to me, but asked that I pay in euros, rather than dollars US, because of PayPal’s exchange rate. I paid in euros, even though that cost me over $20 more, because this is a hard to get and excellent razor and the price was still not out of line. Then, after I paid, the seller asked me to pay an additional 20 euros to cover the PayPal fee. The listing, however, made no mention of this. I agreed to pay this additional amount, reluctantly, because I wanted the razor, and I was given two choices, pay the PayPal fee,or accept a refund. Then, I posted these events on his listing, to get information on whether this was proper, and to warn people that “positive” comments on price may have led this seller to raise his price, twice. A number of people said that was not proper. Someone noted that his actions were inconsistent with the BST RULES. The seller, after reading all the comments/discussion on his BST thread about what went down, apologized to me and acknowledged that he had behaved poorly. He refunded the PP fee to me, and committed to ship the razor to me as soon as he reasonably could. He explained that he was on vacation and that his daughter had suffered an accident, resulting in an eye injury. He had to get her to a doctor, and could not ship the razor until he got home. The seller expressed concern about his reputation having been harmed as a result of my public disclosure of what had transpired. I told him that everybody makes mistakes and said I would publicly vouch for him, once I got the razor, because he had apologized and ultimately agreed to do the right thing. I told him that, in my view, everybody makes mistakes, and the more important thing is how they react when they learn of their mistake. In this case, the seller ultimately did the right thing. He honored our deal, and the razor arrived safe and sound. So, I hereby state vouch for this seller, BavariaBrewer, because he ultimately behaved honorably.
