Darn this is tough...I’m going based off of SUPER EFFICIENT, SMOOTH, MILD, AESTHETICALLY pleasing to “MY” eyes, and weighty heft.....

I only shave 2x per week, 3 if it’s a special occasion, I’m pretty light with whiskers so it would be unfair for me to post an NHL lineup of defensemen, goalie and forwards.  I can’t imply daily drivers as there’s no such thing.  As of today, June 18, here are my favs, this will be upset the moment my Blackland Tradere arrives in my mailbox:

1/ Paradigm 17-4
2/ Charcoal Dudes Gen1 L2 DC Brass Torpedo
3/ Wolfie WR1 .74 SS OC Darwin
4/ Carbon Cx-316L R2-Original Plate
5/ Gillette NEW (NorthShore) / Triad Bronze Diamond

HONOURABLE MENTIONS:
Blackland - Dart and BrassBird
Colonial Razor - “THE” Brass General

[Image: eStIZ6B.jpg]1) Murkur Futur.  Just this year it supplanted my previous favorite (New Long Comb).  The thing just works for me.
2) Gillette New Long.  Love the nostalgia and the style but it also was my best shaver until the two Futurs came to the house.
3) Karve Bronze D Plate.  Love the look of this razor and the shave is very nice indeed.
4) Razorock Game Changer with Radio Knob.  I appreciate the work that went into making a stainless and affordable razor that also shaves like a champ.
5) Rockwell 6S plate 5/6.  The other plates are not worth a thing to me.  Good weight and a great shaver even if it is not pretty.
That said, I use lots of razors from mild to wild and although these are my top five, my 34C and DE89s still see game time.

I’ve always admired that radio knob handle. Just looks great to me. Great photo!

ExtraProtein great presentation! Your artwork is stunning and mixes well with the razors. Perhaps I’ll have to try one of those carbon razors, many people seem to be a fan.

In no particular order, my top 5.  I'm a single-pass with the grain shaver, so I prefer some aggression.
  • MMOC (bumpless) - Ted Pella PTFE blades only.
  • 1960 F2 Fatboy with custom blade gaps - I use it at 9, which is more like 11 with the custom blade gaps.  Saving up for Rhodium treatment.
  • 2013 R41 baseplate, Yaqi Mellon/Beast Top cap, RR Barberpole Handle - The Yaqi top cap just smooths it out a bit.
  • Merkur Progress - I generally use this at level 6.
  • ATT Atlas H1 - I generally pair this one with a Feather.  This is what I use when I want something mild.
I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a Rex Ambassador, which would bump out the H1.  I've managed to save up the cash, but I figured I'd wait until after Father's Day just in case.

This is my 2020 Starting Lineup (today) that I reach for the most in no particular order-

1. Wolfman Ti WR2 1.35 SB w/ WRH3/7 Hybrid Handle.
I love everything about this Razor. The efficiency is great for a close BBS Shave, but the design and the Ti make it smooth as Butter. I could Shave with this Razor daily with no irritation. I love this Handle in looks and in use. I typically prefer 85-90mm Handles, but this one balances beautifully.

2. Wolfman SS WR1 .80 OC w/ Darwin Handle in Mirror Finish.
I love everything about this Razor as well. I was never interested in this Handle because I just assumed it would be slippery. LOOT told me it was one I needed to try, and I’m so glad I listened to him. The grip is excellent, and this Razor is so nimble with the shorter Handle. The Handle itself is a thing of beauty in my eyes, and pairs beautifully with the WR1 Head. This could easily be a Desert Island Razor for me.

3. Paradigm Diamondback
This is the newest Razor in my Den, and so far I love the Shaves I’m getting out of it. I used to own a Paradigm 17-4, but sold it because I could never coax an efficient Shave out of it. After following along on the ‘Diamondback’ thread I saw that the Diamondback was intended to be more efficient than the 17-4, so when I saw one come up on the BST I jumped on it. The Shave is extremely smooth, and with a Feather in it I’m getting the efficiency I look for in a Razor. I used to Shave every two to three days, but with my new work schedule I work three days in a row followed by three days off. The Diamondback has been the Razor I’ve been reaching for on my three days of work in a row because I can Shave every day with no irritation. I also prefer the size of the Diamondbacks Handle compared to the 17-4.

4. Blackland 24K ‘Goldbird’ in SB and OC (also in Black Oxide, Brass, and Stainless)
The Blackbird is one of my very favorite modern Razors. I love the design/looks, and more importantly the Shave. I can shave with the SB daily with no irritation, and the OC is perfect for a few days growth. Before owning a Blackbird I was leery of the handle because I thought it would be slippery in use. It turned out to be one of my all time favorite Handles and is outstanding for me in use. I prefer the look of Shane’s Polished Razors, but all of mine are machined because I find the grip to be just a bit more crisp on the machined handles vs. the polished. The couple of people that I’ve turned on to traditional wet shaving have all fallen in love with it after seeing the results they get when I loaned them one of my Blackbirds. This could easily be a Desert Island Razor for me, and I’m really looking forward to owning a Blackbird in Titanium (and Jet Coating) as well.

5. Wolfman Ti WR1 .80 OC w/ WRH3 Handle
This is probably my personal favorite blade gap in the WR1 Head, especially in OC. It never fails to give me a smooth, efficient, irritation free shave. In Ti this Razor is like butter. Love the face feel of the Ti OC, and I love the looks and balance of the WRH3. I can Shave daily with this Razor with no irritation, and it always gives me the efficiency I’m looking for in a Shave. I reach for this Razor regularly for Dome shaves because it doesn’t seem to have the propensity to bite me (lumpy head) like Stainless dose. The weight in hand is perfect for my tastes, and I always get great Shaves when I use this Razor.
