Exceptionally smooth, especially around my trouble area, which is under the chin down. So far I have used Gillette Platinum and Wizamet blades and it was smooth like butter. Will use a fresh Feather to see how it handles. I am really impressed with the WR1, I like it a tad better than my WR2 due to the head profile, the head to handle balance ratio, the blade feel is there but still comfortable and smooth and the audible feedback is satisfying.

I have the .80 OC which is incredibly smooth but am curious what the step up in gap is like, for blade feel in particular.

With all talk on WR2, hoping it’s a good match, my current WR2 is a 1.15OC/1.25SB

Correction, I actually went for the WR1 DC .80OC/.86SB not .74OC as I stated previously

Oh, didn't see you had the .86 SB, was asking about the OC really. Which side do you prefer so far?

I like both equally. I’m a 2.5 pass shaver, I shave every other day. If I leave it any longer than 3 days, I start to get bumps from ingrown hairs. So it’s the OC side first then the SB side to finish plus touch ups or buffing.

Some of y'all may have seen my mirror polished .86 WR1 on the BST awhile back. I wasn't 'giving it away', and it didn't sell so I withdrew it. This back and forth on this gap, that gap, is a trip.

So with my .74 that is a definite keeper, and my .94 I figured I could let the .86 go. Then this thread comes up and I'm second guessing myself.

Just shaved with the .86 with a 90mm WRH2 and a yellow 7O'Clock Gillette on the third go round. Two passes, no nicks, no cuts, no errors. BBS.

It does have more blade feel than the .74, and IME is smooth, but not as smooth as the .74.

Personally I have to be a bit more attentive with the .86 than with the .74, and more attentive yet with the .94.

If I could only keep one of those 3 it would be the .74 ... but since I can keep them all ... that's what I'm going to do.  [Image: biggrin.png]

So basically you are saying I need to get the .74 as well  Cool

Think I'd prefer the more relaxed shaves with the .80 and the .74 really, maybe even trade the .80 for the .74 at some point. Still not a huge fan of the mirror finish. I have a brushed standard gap and it looks immaculate (definitely not new) and no worries with scratches or fingerprints.

One man's meat is another man's poison ... one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Just read a guy in the Karve thread. He is blessed. Bought a brass Karve a couple of years ago, uses a B, C or A plate and sold all but two (IIRC) of his other razors ... sees no point in looking elsewhere !

I probably have over a hundred DEs, as many straights and I'm still not 'satisfied.'

I wouldn't get rid of one before I tried the other for an extended period of time ... which is how someone get so many razors  Tongue

Well I did say maybe... still want to move away from shiny and go for brushed Wolfmans though. Hopefully I can try a .74 before doing anything.

Do you have the basic brushed or the satin finish upgrade?
Do you think you could maybe post a photo of it?
