Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

Congrats on a good score and a great gap!
I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks, but I just took a look at my WRH1 handle
and it appears that your WRH1 handle has the knurling of the WRH2....can you confirm?
If yes, it's good to know he accommodates such requests, even though it must be a real bear
to keep track of these variations. That's great CS.

I have been pretty intrigued by what the H1 knurling would look like on a H2....ie. the exact opposite.

So I'm clear on this when comparing any WR2 from a 1.35 SB gap on up to the 1.55SB is the SS  as smooth as the non polished Titanium? Or are we comparing a high polished SS vs a brushed Ti?  Or is it basic finish SS vs brushed Ti? 

I've shaved with a OC 1.25 polished SS vs a polished Ti 1.25 OC and the difference face feel wise for me was significant with the Ti being the smoother of the two. 
So do things change with the SB again moving up beyond a 1.35 in SB SS vs Ti? 

I'm trying to get a handle on this in case I get a chance to catch a drop so maybe some members who have shaved with both or all of the above can give me some input on this subject.

I have noticed with other razors (Timeless is a great example) that a Titanium version always gives a "smoother" feeling on the face compared to its stainless steel counterpart. I suspect it must have to do with the metallurgy & chemical structures combining with one's facial oils but I am no expert. I have a very limited experience with Wolfman razors having tried out several loaned ones but I am sure many on this thread with multiple razors would have valuable experiences they could share.

First time trying a titanium wolfman! The hype is real. 1.1 gap and wow I'm blown away. Incredible smooth razor especially ATG. Thank you James for the amazing work you do. These razors are not easy to obtain but definitely worth it! Good luck on your wolfman hunts!

Congrats on the new razor. The handle is quite nice. I'm almost disappointed I didn't think of that that combination, it looks great.

Another random question that relates to both WR1 and WR2

I find almost no difference in efficiency between .80 OC and 0.86 SB gaps

For WR2, Im on 1.15 now...probably might need to take the leap to 1.35 in order to feel a noticeable
difference in efficiency.

Any thoughts on this?

In the WR1 head, from memory, the OC adds a couple points to the SB gap, 80 to 82, 86 to 88. So, your observations are similar to mine.

The WR2 I could not tell a difference in efficiency SB to OC on either of the SSDC heads I had, 115 and 125. There was a big difference in face feel with the 125OC being kinda harsh. A couple of the guys I sent that head to loved the 125OC in SS. Polarizing at best.

If you are talking about SS SBs in the WR2, each gap jump is slightly more pronounced than the WR1 jumps, to me. 115 to 135 will make you take notice. I still think the 115SB is the best choice for daily driving. Even so, were I you, I'd get the 135SB next and then the 155, if you still want more. I would like to try a 135+OC in Titanium one day, but I'd not order one.

A good friend loaned me a 1.05mm SB head to play with.  It is the only WR2 gap I had not tried and honestly, didn't give it much thought.  The 95 was just too mild, so my next jump went straight to 115.

I've run the 105SB 3 shaves. All with Feather blades, all with varying growth, all standard 2.5 pass shaves.  Today I unleashed it on 3 days growth and was very impressed.  Mindful of angle, it provides minimal blade feel yet it mows down stubble.  It's smooth as glass and a real joy to use.  The 115 will put a 9 hour BBS shave on me with no problem.  It's more than capable and I see why the gap is popular.  I suppose I'll have to procure my own at this point.  I've certainly enjoyed the loaner.

That’s why I’ve settled on this as my fave gap. Extremely efficient without all the extra, and in reality for me, unneeded blade gap and feel. Plus I can use every day for months on end and never get a spot of irritation.

Nice to hear about the 1.05SB - so, in titanium I was considering 1.25SB - if it were you would you now dial back?

After troubleshooting and great advice from you guys I’ve been getting some fantastic shaves with the Ti 1.55 SB.

Long story short, the root of the problem was the Nacet blades. I’m not sure if this was just a bad pack or they’re counterfeit or what.
