I have two WR1 0.61mm (standard gap) baseplates. One is a SB and the other is a DC. But, I do not have a BBS-1. Since they are made by the same person and appear to have some similarities is head design I am wondering how they compare. Anyone have experience with both?

Mark, I no longer own either of the razors, but I found the BBS-1 to be a bit more aggressive/efficient. Not overly so, but there was a noticeable difference, for me anyway.

No worries, Mark, but you should find other opinions, as well, to see if you can get a good consensus on this. Shy

I have a BBS-1 as well as a .67 OC and .74 OC and .74 SB Wolfman Razors. For me the BBS-1 is smoother and more efficient than my Wolfman Razors. The BBS-1 with a Feather in it for me would be my Desert Island Razor. I’ve never used a Standard gap Wolfman, so can’t make that comparison. The Head design between the BBS-1 and WR1 are quite a bit different as far as how the blade is held in place, but other than that I’m not sure of the other differences such as blade gap etc.. Hope this helps.

I visited James at the shop once and the bbs-1 and wr1 are machined out of different radius round stock so the blade angles should be different. I cannot comment on a comparison more than that. I am awaiting a bbs-1 out of the last batch to finish the waiting list

Thanks Celestino!

Another case of YMMV - I found BBS1 less efficient, but similar in aggressiveness to WR1 .61.

I actually could rarely get a BBS shave with BBS1 razors. Let them all go.

For me, bbs you have to find the angle. It’s still mild for me but very smooth. 61 is less smooth (still smooth just less by comparison) and less efficient for my beard.

My best razor is the 74 wr1

Sold two BBS-1’s, nothing special for me, my most efficiënt Wolfman would be the 0,74
