So if a wr1 equals to a slim adjustable on a 4-5, that means it would roughly be the exact same as a Gillette flare tip..

Michael, I am a mild razor guy. And like you, I prefer solid bar, neutral to negative blade exposure razors. I frequently use ATT M1, Karve B, Timeless 68, Carbon -, Feather, GC 76,68.

I have 3 Wolfies - all SB Wr1's.

Gaps of 76, 61 and 54. All are pretty aggressive and rough shavers for me. Evidently a WR2 set would have been better for me. I love the quality but prefer other razors.

Maybe a .48 wr1 would be better??  But apparently comparing WR1 to wr2 is like comparing apples and oranges.

Here's another persons post i read?

"I run my Gillette adjustables on seven for both passes. I have a WR1 .61 and a WR2 in the 1.05 gap. The WR1 has more blade feel than my WR2. I would say it has a bit more than a Slim on seven. Both give great shaves."

I don't know what the blade exposure is on the wr1's. It has to be fairly significant.

Hope someone can chime in on that without having to dig through exhaustive Wolfie threads.

Sounds about right to me. WR1 with a .61 gap is a very assertive razor. If not a very big friend of blade feel, then best to go lower.

So basically the wr1 is the mildest razor Wolfman makes? Even though Wr1's have more blade exposure. So i read that the .48 wr1 has less blade exposure than all the other ,wr1's

The .48 is the mildest WR1, but probably not the mildest, or mildest feeling Wolfman. You should look at the WR2. Don‘t be put off by the higher gap. The blade exposure is considerably less. I‘m not entirely sure, but I believe the 1.05 has a neutral exposure and the exposure becomes negative for gaps below that.

Finally someone says it! I have a WR1 standard gap .61 combination sb/OC and it’s a pretty aggressive bordering on rough shaver for me. It’s a beautiful razor but not a daily driver. I know that a lot of guys like the aggressive, massive gap blade monster razors but that’s not my thing. I like an efficient, comfortable shave and I can’t say that my .61 WR1 delivers that.

WR1 exposures for various gaps are listed above in message 6 of this thread.

Low blade gap doesn't mean mild. Geometry, blade exposure and shaving angle alter aggressiveness too. WR1 .48 may have low gap but it shaves very well and it gives me BBS.

A Timeless Slim has only 0.50 gap but it is quite an aggressive razor.
