I am certainly no expert, but I remember reading on another forum that the agents used to tan leather can corrode SS if left in constant contact. I can’t find the thread but the person who wrote it worked with metal as a profession, he said it was fine for travel but not to leave a SS razor in a leather case for storage.

Chrome tanned leather might cause rust. There are many leather knife sheath or axe..

Very possible but to be honest I don’t have any issues at all with my Karve.

I’m no expert either…but Mark raises an excellent point

Depending upon where you keep your razor…….. the leather cover/sheath will limit air flow around the head so moisture will tend to condense inside with no way to get out

Was the leather treated by vegetable or chemical dye? Vegetable is much worse for corrosion

Why not use plastic drill bit containers for travel and paper towels? I can give you the dimensions and the where to purchase.  They’re about 75cents each USD.  It will cost you about $1.50 USD per 3 piece razor.  They’re not as pretty as that $25CAD leather rig sheath thingy you have however I question what protects that gorgeous handle?

Like Shavemd  was talking about. I got the bright idea to use these nice, sturdy, metal free leather razor travel pouches.
Well after a small issue on one of my Gibbs adjustables plating and the discussion about the tanned leather.
I stopped using these four permanent storage, right or wrong.

CK89  Cem is right, I've got hunting knives, and such with leather pouches.
I don't feel this should be an issue with stainless steel razors but again I'm not taking any chances.

Question is did person use that razor often, personally this is my view and opinion I have no issues at all how it corrodes and what people do I have no idea, one thing I can say I have no issues with it at all corrosion etc…

But hey you do what the best for you and make you happy for me I love to have Razor Sleeves and will use em..

AlanH81  my statement was not meant to be derogatory, I was just letting people know a concern I had read. I have no opinion on others care for there razors, I personally am very OCD with mine.
