wolfman pricing discussion

The beautiful part is that it’s entirely voluntary. Too expensive in your mind - no dig deal. Move along. It’s not mandatory.

Uhhh...I suspect anyone that’s considering spending close to 1k on a razor is gonna know what it is and what they go for.

Someone even threw out the term “price gouging” which is absolutely comical for a number it reasons haha!

Yes Dan, it did. Being one that enjoys the debate and believes firmly in giving a fool plenty of rope, I didn't close the thread. I'm not about to remove the platform. I'm not going to feed the trolls either, I hope.

People who know me...know. I do appreciate those, like you, that pointed out the idiocy. The friendship is much appreciated. I just hate this thread had to occupy so much real estate up top. It really didn't have to be this hard. Good stuff getting pushed to the bottom entertaining trolls.

Agree with JimmyH. I’m not a DE user, but I enjoy looking at the Wolfman razors, beautiful workmanship for sure and I can see why they’re so desired. But I don’t understand the ‘Wolfman Derangement Syndrome’ where people worry themselves (and others) to no end about what other people are asking for their razors. And the prices that I’ve seen don’t seem that high - in the straight razor world a NOS Iwasaki Western (folding) tamehagane can bring $3,000 - $3,500 depending on the model, and no one bats an eye at these prices, it’s just what they bring. Heck, even a nice Iwasaki tamehagane kamisori (non-folding) will bring a grand or more, and they’re fairly common - you can go out and buy one whenever. Master SR smiths make custom SR that are higher than what people are asking here for a Wolfman, same kind of operation, small artisan operation of the highest quality, and like the Wolfman, they hold value and used ones are not discounted much if at all.

Holding or increasing value is a good thing, not a bad thing, right? So why does someone care enough about what someone else wants for their razor to get banned?

I saw the thread on ******. those people complaining probably do not run a shaving forum where continual negative comments can really drag down a thread/forum. if all people get is negative comments when they want to sell something, they're going to stop using the site and move on to somewhere else.

the real irony here is that even at $900 or whatever the asking price for the wolfman, it always sells...

thanks.  we tried for a very long time to strike a balance of allowing people to comment about pricing in bst threads but it started getting out of hand and it was basically dragging down the intent of the listing itself.  since there are no rules against someone asking whatever they want for an item they're selling (and there never will, as long as I run the site), the need to denigrate someone asking for X amount for whatever is a bit much.  and let's be honest: it's almost ALWAYS the wolfman threads that are problematic.
