As for "once you're in, you're in"...that's not my experience at all. I've ordered a pile of razors in a short period of time. He totally ignored my Guerrilla request. He also politely declined to sell me an alternate material. I understand his boundaries, I think, and I don't do anything to push him off or get on his "no buy" list of there is such a thing.

I've heard he loathes a certain handle maker. I don't own and never will own one of them....no matter the quality...on the chance that rumor is true.

I also heard he monitors the second hand market. No of my razors will ever see those sites on the chance he does monitor it.

James is razor Santa. I'll make sure I'm on his good list as best I can. I love the gear and plan to buy more.

Well, I try to stay on razor Santa's good side too. I don't think I do anything that warrants being on his bad side, other than maybe reporting my actual experience in this post. As far as my request, I don't think it was too unusual. All I wanted to do was order an extra Wolfman handle. I originally ordered the razor with a seven, but about a week later decided that I would like a 2 as well. I sent a message asking if I could add it, basically incidental, to to my order. I sent two messages and recieved no response. That forces me to use a non Wolfman handle with my Wolfman. That really wasn't something I wanted to do, but I have no choice. So, I use the 7 and a UFO. I wish I had a 2, or even better, a titanium 7. I know that will never happen, but that would make me a happy camper.

I agree. My post was not intended to diminish your concern. Hopefully you didn't take it that way.

I'm curious, did you have an extra head already? I didn't follow why not having an extra handle forced you to use a nonWolf handle. I certainly could have missed it tho.

No, just the one head. I just wanted to have two handle options to mix it up some. That said, now that I have a little more time with the razor, I think I actually prefer a lighter-weight handle with the head. That's why I mentioned that my ideal situation would be a 7 in titanium. That's what I would really like. I wish I could get it.

For those that have the 86mm. do you find it too aggressive? Which are the most efficient blade gaps  65. 74. 80. 86.?

I have the .74 and .86, both in OC and I prefer the .86 and don’t find it too aggressive unless I get lazy. That’s not to say I can sleep through my shave with the .74 either though.
I just find the .86 considerably more efficient and know that if I do my due diligence I’ll be rewarded with a two pass BBS shave.
Hope that helps but feel free to ask more questions!

I have a 74SB, an 80OC, and an 86SB. I agree, the 86 is the best of them all. It is extremely efficient, surprisingly smooth, and the blade feel is excellent. It checks all of the boxes for me.

I think you just convinced me of my need to grab a .86 SB on a Darwin handle next time they’re available, haha.
