I've got some severe RAD going on and was hoping to get some opinions on what razor to purchase next

So I currently own:

Wolfman SB
Merkur Mergress
Edwin Jagger DE89
Ikon Shavecraft 102 Slant
Matador Tor Mastiff (Aggressive Head)
Rockwell 6C (on the way)

This is my wish list....

1) Blackbird with both OC & SB
2) DOC Evolution Safety Razor
3) ATT Calypso R1
4) Timeless (Not sure what head or gap)
5) Razorock Black Mamba(Upcoming version)

Of the razors I own my favorite is probably the Mergress on setting 4 (4.5 for touch up). Second would be the Wolfman with a Feather blade. I don't use the DE89 very often but it's the first DE I ever used so I break it out every now and then. I'm planning on selling/trading the Ikon 102 and Matador as I just haven't gotten along with those two razors. I've heard great things regarding the Rockwell but won't have that till the end of April at least.

So I'm hoping to get some recommendations from all of you DE experts out there, what should be next?

As always thanks for any replies as they are greatly appreciated
Dave

Well, I can tell you that I much enjoy both the Blackland Blackbird solid bar and the Above the Tie Calypso R1 (which I’ve been shimming lately to make it slightly more efficient).

Like any razor, they both took some time to get used to. The Blackbird took quite a while, in fact. (See my review here: https://damnfineshave.com/reviews-produc...-blackbird) My previous favorite razor was the Weber Razor DLC, but now I’m not sure which of the three is my favorite, as I like them all for their various qualities. (Weber: ease of use. Blackbird: incredible efficiency. Calypso: nimbleness.)

Dave, if your favorite is the Mergress on 4, you might look at the Timeless with the .95mm gap. Very smooth shaver, and superb build and finish. I prefer my Wolfmen, by just a bit. I think you'll enjoy the Rockwell also. I'm waiting for a Charcoal, they have been getting very good press.

I don't see a Feather AS-D2 on your list but maybe you have tried it before. That is my all-time favorite and pretty much ended my RAD. However, if I were buying a new razor it would probably be between the Rockwell and Timeless.

While I have many, one double edged safety razor is my hands down favorite and the only one I use - a Muhle R41 head on another company's handle.

I would certainly suggest to try Rockwell - it was one of the biggest surprises for me. In the past two years I tried almost all contemporary (some discontinued) safety razors and the Rockwell instantaneously rose to the top, when I used it for the first time a few weeks ago.

Currently I only keep (In order of preference based on efficiency and comfort): BlackBird, Weber, Wolfman, Rockwell, Asylum Rx.

Dave, I would go with the Blackbird or Timeless .95.
Another interesting razor to consider is the new Parker Variant adjustable; much more weight and aggression than your Merkur, but very smooth. Shy

I'll echo Alex's (ANG69) comment above and then some. I wasn't expecting to be wowed but wow. I ordered a Rockwell 6S a month ago because, well, everyone else did. Never followed the kickstarter or version 1 just got their finished razor. Phenomenal. I never thought a shave could be as close/closer and smoother than the Timeless .68 & .95 but it is to me. The 2 extra holes in the baseplates for the cap stems ensures as tight a fit as my Wolfman. No blade play or chatter. I don't know of another razor with this design?

Switching/flipping plates (if needed) between passes is seamless. No adjustable moving parts like in a Progress to loosen or break. Just a tight fit and perfect shave every time.

What a razor!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I do have the Rockwell 6C due to arrive in late April according to the last update posted vie Indiegogo. The two razors that I probably would like to get the most are the Blackbird or the Timeless and just need to decide between the two. I do plan on purchasing the new Black Mamba when it is released as I like the info that I have heard regarding the use of Titanium.
