I’ve found that my varlet, declaration and paladin brushes have denser better constructed knots.

Kehole

Doctor, Im feeling a little faint.....I think I may have Varlet Fever.
(an old one I still love).

Yeah...the loft on the Wiborgs is low 28/52....I hope you liked the softness and backbone though.
Did you get any gel? That object looks stunning though...you lucky man...LOL.

If you process the hair you get hooked gel tips.
Process = dipping it in bleach basically hence the “whiteness”

No gel. Nice backbone and a hint of scrub. Excellent flow through.

I had a Wiborg once. A 28mm Anchor with bulb knot. I thought the hair was fantastic but the loft was really low for the size knot. If the Wiborg knot was about 5mm higher I probably wouldn't have sold it. I've had 5 Varlets and sold 3 of them. I've since kept the Orion and Everset K2 because the hair used is magical.

Was your Orion from the last drop?

No, I've had it for over a year now.

Hey thanks for chiming in as a user of the faux ebony Wiborg series....very useful comparison. Im just speculating that the high mountain white, at least
on this series, was so soft that he set those 28mm knots deliberately at 52mm so as to impart a firmer backbone.
Back in the day, when discussions on the subject were rife, people used to describe these brushes as having the feel of a 3-band silver tip
and the backbone of a 2-band.

Maybe if you had tried a fan shape you would have more brush area contact the face and, hence, a better experience. What is interesting is that
your Wiborg was 28/52 while the recent Varlets are 29/53....very similar loft height.

Your Orion looks superb...there's something about those Alumite (sp?) handles that I know will be special in look and how they feel
in the hand.

Nope, mine was set crazy low. Something like 48mm loft I think. Definitely lower than 50mm. If it were 52mm or even 53mm I would have kept it.
