Gentle Menthol Cream v. (Meißner Tremonia) herby eucalyptus

At this time of year I keep a bottle of Thayer’s lavender facial mist in the fridge. When I come back from the beach a little crisper than intended, this spray gives cooling comfort. It’s also nice after a shave, and its simple herbal fragrance goes well with today’s Gentle Menthol, a rosemary lover’s delight. If you like your herbs smelling fresh and sappy, you may want to dip a brush into a pot of this. There’s a good dose of eucalyptus in the mix as well. It combines nicely with the rosemary and lavender. The menthol is fairly mild. If you want a proper chill, you may have to add your own coolant.

Thanks to AQU for the tip on how to get better glide out of the Henson Al13 razor. I played around with the angles making hairline adjustments. The results were good. The razor felt much better on my face. I also noticed that part of the drag may be due to the way the razor sort of pushes the lather instead of swallowing it. What I’m trying to say is that the gills on the baseplate don’t let enough lather through. The razor gets bogged down in a thick emulsion. And when I take it apart to rinse it, I find the innards are fairly well choked with foam. Apart from these minor quibbles, though, I get a very good shave with this razor. It’s mild and efficient, and a shave with a Henson lasts me a good twenty hours.

I grabbed this scent when Will first released it, thinking it would be right up my alley. Turns out, that wasn't the case. I've used it exactly once since its arrival. Like many of Will's offerings, TFMOM is a "love it or hate it" scent. While I do like most of the notes in the scent, there's one in there that just doesn't jibe...maybe the mousse de saxe??. Anthony "The Stallion" Esposito often says to try something at least twice (even though he got rid of the same scent after the first use). With that in mind, I decided to give it one more spin before culling it. It'll never become one of the top scents in my humble collection, but it might get to stay. I opted to steer clear of the balm this morning, proving to be a wise choice thus far. I'm still catching subtle whiffs of the scent, but it's not overbearing like the first time, when I used the balm. The balm seems way more concentrated with scent, and pushes the scent way over the edge for me. The soap, by itself, is rather enjoyable.

Saturday I attended a good friends wedding and Sunday was just warm.  Seemed Stirling Orange Chill was in order.
