What soap/cream did you use today?

[font=Trebuchet MS]B&M Beaudelaire… a Fougère that has quite possibly upset the balance of my Top 10 Soap-Croap-Creams of ALL time? In fact, it may have upset my 2.5 year standing #1! Yes, it’s that good and the splash, ha, might be better than the scent of the Soap! This is THE B&M product to have, I’m very impressed.  The EXCELSIOR base is exceptional! This one is in a class by itself[/font]

[font=Trebuchet MS]What does the word BEAUDELAIRE even mean? My interpretation of the name and the goodness inside is this: [/font][font=Trebuchet MS]Sexy, Provacative, Trashy, New, Old, Dirty, Clean, Basic, Sophisticated, Earthy, Sharp, Dark and Musky. The Mousse de Saxe note must be taking this FOUGÈRE to the next level.  A couple more uses and I’ll get a review going[/font]

Crema da Barba v. (Santa Maria Novella) Tabacco Toscano, eucalyptus

Today’s razor is the other reason I chose this soap. The Henson Al13 is a sticky little thing. It’s just brushed aluminum without any coating. When I shave, it feels like it’s sucking up my skin. SMN, on the other hand, has a reputation for slickness. I was hoping the Crema da Barba would give enough slip to keep the Henson sliding. But I hoped in vain. I got a good enough shave, but compared to a nickel- or chrome-plated razor, this raw aluminum gives a bumpy ride, even with a slick soap.

I’ve used the Tan and Ti versions of medium and there hasn’t been much drag. I think ischiapp made reference to changing the angle slightly from the one predetermined by the head to get a better shave. I move the handle ever so slightly away from my face and the results are great.

There it is...thank you!  I remembered you had given a really good description of it but wasn't able to find it.

Yep, it’s official.  This puck of Harris Marlborough is immortal.  I keep shaving off of it and I swear it’s bulking up with the exercise!  I sure do enjoy a hard soap and fattie silver tip badger brush. Seems the  height of luxury.  Scents on a puck like this are generally never bold or brash but understated and lovely.  Even gentlemanly.  I’m in no mood to kill this puck but enjoy it to its very end.  Might use it before attending a buddy’s wedding tomorrow!  But maybe something smoky instead.  I have 45 lbs of pork butt in the smoker because his caterer had a death in The family and bailed!  Sucks to lose a family member but losing your caterer the day before your wedding is typical of 2021.  It’s smelling good out back of the house.

That looks amazing!  You're right, that would totally suck to lose a caterer the day before, but I'm betting with a good friend like you, his wedding/reception is going to be far better!  And honestly, it'll make for a good story in the years to come...you know, after the anxiety and stress of the wedding day have passed

Charles Baudelaire was a French poet of the 1800s?--different spelling so maybe not. And I agree, the soap is extraordinary. Of the B&M products I have, I rank this one at the top along with Le Grand Chypre.
