It's such a great scent!  I may have to use it tomorrow.

As I watered the gardens this morning, I struggled to discern whether some of the wonderful scents were from the soap or our flowers in bloom.

AOS Rose Absolute

My theory is that this was just too expensive to continue producing. The rose is immaculate. Even finding real roses that smell this full is nearly impossible.

Rose Gold t. (McDuff's Soap Company) lost rose

Seems like this month was supposed to be all about roses. Then the heat set in, and I sort of lost the plot. Let’s see if I can pick it up again.

McDuff's is getting a lot of attention around here lately. Judging from the lather shots, it deserves it. So when this tub of Rose Gold flew in from Edmonton this morning, I immediately cracked the lid and took a whiff. “Wow!” Thick, heady, and ambrosial, it smelled like chocolate covered cherries in dark syrup. Not really rosy, but interesting. I could hardly wait to lather up. Within an hour, I filled my brush and went to work building a thick lather. The stuff's rich and sleek, and I was enjoying getting acquainted. But then something whacky happened. It all just stopped smelling. I swabbed and swabbed all over my face, but all I smelled was soap. Just then my wife walked in. I passed her the brush and asked what she smelled. “Nothing.” This was really odd, not to mention abrupt. Like going from 60 to 0 in five seconds. I can’t fault the lather itself. It’s gorgeous. Just look at HoosierShave’s post today. But it doesn’t matter how I twist my nose around this lather, I just can’t call it rose. In fact, I'm not sure I can call it anything at all.
