What soap/cream did you use today?

Brutalt Bra v. (Bergums Såpkokeri) lavender, rosemary, sage, eucalyptus

Brutalt Bra is Norwegian for 'brutally good'. I've used this soap for several years now. My first few shaves helped me understand the 'brutal' part of the name. I wasn't loading enough soap and the result was a thin wispy lather and red cheeks. Since then I've turned to the Marco Method. Coming at this cake with a dripping brush, I give myself one hundred good swirls and then start some earnest brush work. Suds go flying everywhere, but the results are fantastic: a thick, voluminous layer of lather that leads to a great shave every time. At last, I've mastered the 'good' part too.

Any of you guys familiar with this house?

A few years ago I used their Grand Valley Vetiver, but only once. The smell just didn't work for me, and I never went back. It was disappointing interpretation of vetiver, mostly lemon and lime, and not very nice versions of either of these notes. The lather, though, was fine.

Whooo weee. This stuff stinks. Put man oh man it is a slick emulsion. Easy to lather. Want to use it regularly - but has a plastic fishing lure smell. Bummer. May try another puck.

Any of you guys familiar with this house?

Same experience with this soap.  Load long and it's awesome.  Quit too early and it has no slickness.

Clubman Pinaud shave cream

I don't understand a lot of things but one which really baffles me is the lack of respect Razorock soaps seem to get on this forum.  I am here to tell you that RR products punch far above their  weight class and are for the most part a superb value.  Most RR offerings are made by Tcheon Fung Sing, a maker whose reputation is locked down.  This morning I chose Saturnia, a soap named after the famous hot springs and in fact made with minerals to guide your eye towards a hot spring.  Man oh man, what a scent.  Idaho has many many hot springs and most of them have the attending sulphurous scent as you may know from the features in Yellowstone.  I absolutely love that scent and gulp a big lungful as often as possible (which is often).  The soap carries that scent but one won't know it unless you know to look for it.  Post shave there are about 15 minutes where the scent is gloriously revealed and those are precious minutes.  Reminds me of nights under the stars sitting in a springs with loved ones.  Marvelous shave today.

Whilst I get the lure of scent, much prefer the benefits of positive dermatological post shave effects to lingering aroma, hence why RR not in my rotation.
