Not sure what the big deal is with this.

For me, it's the look of healthier skin. They use high quality (some ORGANIC) ingredients Smile
It's also very protective.

Agree, I don't find it particularly slick compared to many others (but I think there is more to shaving creams/soaps performance than just slickness... and any bath soap is slick).

But the scent is pretty lame in the version you show (v2). I had to sell my backups.

However, the Colonia scent in v3 is immaculate.
Nero thanks. I love Colonia. And you have described why i was slightly underwhelmed. Slickness is the main soap attribute for me-as i have very stubborn beard and buffing +multiple passes require slippery suds. Cushion comes after scent for me as well. I need to run down the new ADP. Barbiera? It is a cream, right?

I've said it before and I'll say it again... the Colonia SCENT is better in the shaving cream than it is in the (current) EdT. I'll say that again sometime in the future too.

As for SHAVE qualities, I'm not super duper hot on it, full disclosure.

It is good but not TOP tier, IMO... Especially if slickness is your priority. To enjoy this cream (yes it's a thick cream), you would have to value the other attributes: healthy skin complexion, soft skin, protection, and scent.

I do find it makes the skin a little bit tight (and maybe a little tingle on later passes), but not an issue if you have nice aftershaves (I'm sure you do).

How long does a soap puck last?  Apparently forever given most of our soap hoards.  It's fall, leaning on winter here in these Idaho hills and although I don't generally categorize soaps into seasons (Tabac is always a good choice), this one from Cold River is certainly fall.  The name helps: Fall 2015.  Four years old and still wonderfully scented.  It is darker, like fall senesense, with leafs dropping, yet not moldering.  It smells of bark preparing for winter.  It smells of dry grasses who gave up on photosenthisis weeks ago.  And over the top there is a faint spiciness to tie it all together.  With all the new soap bases available, this 4 year old soap still provides proper protection for a for a great shave and today's shave was very very good.  The soap is half gone so I only have four more years to enjoy it.

Shannon's Botanica sample - this one should be coming out soon and a full tub will definitely be making its way to my den.  The performance is top-notch which was certainly expected of Shannon's.  But the scent really puts this one over top for me.  Initially, I was picking up some citrus which was very light but present.  This morning I mainly was getting the floral aspect of the scent.  It's a "dirty" type of floral and is like a blend of earth and floral.  Overall, a great scent that paired up very well with CL Catalan's Prairie Happy2
