The lather is what you would expect from a soap made by Valobra: heavy, rich, and deep. If you like the original Art of Shaving pucks and wish you could find something that matches their performance, C&S isn’t a bad place to start.
Near the end of last year, I read that Valobra was bought by the company behind the Proraso brand. I’m not sure what that means for the brand in the long run, but for now, it seems to be mostly sold out, along with Czech & Speake… Undecided

I had heard that Valobra makes soap for The Art of Shaving under the AoS brand name.

I believe that was the case with the original The Art of Shaving tallow pucks, but I’m not well-versed in the history of that company.

Are we in for a consolidation of the shaving soap industry?

If it takes its cues from the corporate world, some more of that could happen down the road, as did with the company behind Proraso buying Valobra. From what I understand, though, that particular sale was due to a retirement situation. So not quite as dog-eat-dog as some of the sales that make news headlines.

Brutalt Bra v. (Bergums Såpkokeri) lavender, rosemary, sage, eucalyptus

Brutalt Bra smells very much like LPL’s Traditionnel. They’re both an herb garden for your face. And like LPL, Brutalt Bra is a very simple soap. Apart from the water and fragrance I count two ingredients: potassium stearate and potassium cocoate. Scandinavian simplicity. These two ingredients makes a good lather, a little on the light side, but slick. I got a very close shave. I wish it had better cushion, though. When I make three passes, I need to remember to keep my Rockwell on baseplate 2. The finish (aside from a bit of blade burn) is grand.

So glad you got ahold of this soap.

I am very fond of Rockwell r2 as well, shaving with it most days (sometimes cleaning up with a r4 pass, though). A very smooth operator.

When you find out the blade Gaps in comparison to other razors, it's a bit shocking. While most vendors try to make an agressive razor feel smooth, I think Rockwell went the other route... Make a very mild razor efficient. It has paid off for them.
