My first use of a Talbot soap...and I'm very impressed!  IMO, the lather is a good mix between an Oleo and Mystic Water base.  Really great slickness and a cushion...looking forward to using this one again!

Green and clean at the same time, this soap smells like a walk through an alpine meadow. Bury your snout in the puck and you may pick out some balsam, mounds of green plants, light citrus, and a sliver of wood at the bottom. But it’s mixed together really well, so that what you smell when you make your lather is just high summer greenness. Oddly for a fougère there’s no noticeable lavender or oak moss.

Mmmmmm, that sounds nice! I LOVE anything pine, balsam, evergreen! I need this in my life!

Laureato v. (Abbate y La Mantia) lemon bay

How long will our soaps last? According to the FDA, “There are no U.S. laws or regulations that require cosmetics to have specific shelf lives or have expiration dates on their labels.” But in the EU most cosmetics come with a Period-After-Opening (PAO) symbol. This icon of a tub with an open lid and number (see below) gives the “useful lifetime of a cosmetic product after its package has been opened. That is, the time in months when the product will remain in good condition after the consumer has used the product for the first time.” There’s a 12M on my tub of Laureato, so it should remain pristine for about a year. But over half my soaps have already passed their prime PAO day. I can’t say that any have lost their ability to make a good lather, but I’ve noticed that some have lost their scent strength. To limit bacterial growth the FDA also recommends that you keep your fingers, brushes, and water out of your soaps. As if.
