What soap/cream did you use today?

Felce Aromatica v. (Saponificio Varesino) alpine stream

Green and clean at the same time, this soap smells like a walk through an alpine meadow. Bury your snout in the puck and you may pick out some balsam, mounds of green plants, light citrus, and a sliver of wood at the bottom. But it’s mixed together really well, so that what you smell when you make your lather is just high summer greenness. Oddly for a fougère there’s no noticeable lavender or oak moss.

Darwin Classic v. (Le Père Lucien) citrus, lemongrass, ginger, patchouli

LPL has teamed up with Darwin Razors to offer this tart smelling soap. I get lemongrass mostly, but there’s enough patchouli and ginger to make it smell just a tad funky, like an antique shop on a hot summer afternoon. In Europe furniture polish is hardly ever used. A soft damp cloth gets rid of the dust. But in North America, lemon Pledge and its offspring are de rigueur when it comes to cleaning wooden chairs and cabinets. If you like that smell of lemon oil and old wood, you’ll fall for this scent of this soap. And just in case you can’t get enough of it in your lather, Darwin generously includes a 2 ml vial of Classic cologne.
