Le Chypre Sombre t. (Cold River Soap Works) musk, amber, moss, citrus, lavender, wood
This is the most expensive soap on my shelf. No, I got that wrong. This is the most expensive soap container on my shelf. Thing is, I don’t use this handsome handmade jar any more. It was hard to get at the soap, so I scraped out the remnants and put them in a cheap Tupperware bowl. Now it loads easy and makes a dense creamy lather. As for the pot, I like a well designed container, but this was clearly a case of overkill. It nearly tripled the price of the product. Before it was discontinued, LCS was also sold in a normal plastic jar at a reasonable price. Wish I had gone that route. The soap's scent is very complex, something like a mash up of a chypre and a fougère. Some say it reminds them of Drakkar Noir, but to me it smells muskier and a little woodier than that classic cologne.
