Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Rosa Bourbon t. (Eufros Premium Tallow) ★★★★★ rich rose

It's hard to decide which is richer, the dense lather or the divine scent of Rosa Bourbon. Brush it on thick and your face will feel like it's been paved with velvet. The temptation is to leave the foam on your chops all day, it smells that good and feels that fine. Eventually, though, you're bound to succumb and drag a blade through it. Then you might just feel like a skier gliding down a mountain of deep powder, slicing your way through the fresh snow without a bump or a worry. Splendid soap.

Royal Fougère t. (Asylum Shave Works) ★★★★ garden fern

Don't give up on this lather too soon. Just when you think you've got it right, add a few more drops of water, and a few more after that, and then give it all a good, spirited whipping for at least another minute. I found it takes a lot of agitation to get this lather to come together as a stable, thick emulsion. Today I was at the end of my second pass before I got it right, but once the lather took shape, it gave me a very nice shave and a buttery finish. I'll have to keep tinkering, though, to discover how to squeeze out more slip.

The scent is a decent, stout fougère. Thankfully there's not much spice, but there is a little dirt around the edges to keep it well grounded.
