I can see why BM keeps refining their soap bases. It helps the bottom line to have a new product now and then. But for a long-time user of the White Label base, the constant stream of new bases may seem superfluous. That's to say, the White Label soaps were already perfectly excellent, and they remain the gold standard by which many measure newer soaps. All the same, I'm looking forward to trying the new Excelsior base. It's supposed to incorporate some of Will's recent soap making achievements in a formula that will closely resemble the original White Label recipe.

One of the best features of BM's soap is it's stability. Though my tub of Cheshire is over a thousand days old, it still smells as fresh and comforting as it did when I first cracked it open. If anything, the bergamot is tarter and crisper. And the soap itself has kept its remarkable hard-soft texture that loads easily without turning stringy. Good stuff.

I finished today's shave with a splash of Brut to commiserate Lipripper's loss.
