Frozen Tundra (Stirling Soap Co.) grass & menthol

Hoping for a mentholated fougère? So was I, but we're not really going to find it here. Instead, Frozen Tundra gives us green grass covered by an inch of rock hard ice. You might make out a little wintergreen and some oak moss, but they're faint. So, unless you're enchanted by a wallop of medicinal menthol, the scent will probably not be the main attraction. I come back to this soap solely for the cold kick. The chill starts slow, but by the third pass my face feels like it's been plunged in a snow bank. See the ice picks on the label? You may need to reach for one to chisel off the frost.

Great review Bouki!  What I really love about this soap is it reminds me of a cold winter morning.  For me, the menthol plays a great role in the scent of the soap.  When I inhale deeply with this soap, it is really "felt" in the nose because of the menthol.  It's this "feel" that reminds me of winter.  On a cold winter day, inhaling deeply tends to hurt a little in the nostrils.  For whatever reason, I've always associated a wintergreen scent with this sensation.  The fact it is not an overwhelming wintergreen but more of a subtle overtone is simply a bonus.  So the combination of wintergreen/menthol with some grass/oak moss really blend well to create this memory for me.  And like you, I need that cold kick/reminder, especially when temperatures are in the 90's and the heat index is triple-digits  Sad
