Somali Rose (Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations) spicy rose & chocolate

The scent of this premium soap reminds me of Czech & Speake No. 88, a dark sweet rose underpinned with spice, sandalwood, and moss. It smells very good. Mind what you're doing, though, when you load your brush with this soap. It's so soft that it's possible, as I learned today, to scoop up nearly the whole sample with just a few swirls.

The lather that resulted from this heavily overloaded brush was phenomenal. I'd never seen anything like it before (but then, I'd never before made a lather with this much soap). It was terrifyingly magnificent, so dense, wet, glossy, and slick I could have shaved with a machete and done myself no harm.

It was also infernally hot. I had enough soap and fragrance oil on my face for at least five shaves. Something in the spice blend made the lather feel like a mustard plaster. By the second pass I felt like I was scraping my bones with fire and brimstone. I suspect I'm sensitive to star anise. That spice appears in both this soap and in Lisa's Absinthe soap, which gave me a toasting last week. I'll try Somali Rose again with a much lighter load and cross my fingers for a more comfortable shave.
