With all the buzz and attention that is given to some of the newer brands of soaps or reformulations that have come out, I thought it would be nice to break out my starter razor which is an Edwin Jagger DE89 and a couple soap brands that I started wet shaving with so.....

Tuesday: Phoenix Artisan Accutrements - The Beach
Wednesday: Mystic Water - Egyptian Dragon

I was rewarded with stellar shaves both days. It honestly made me wonder if these newer brands and formulations are really any better than the old. And for the record I don't think there is a slicker soap out there than Mystic Water. It's been a great two days!

Oasisdave, thanks for sharing your experience! Like you said, some products in this realm have been consistently good for quite some time now. Right before reading your observations, I had made a mental note to myself to enjoy what I already have, instead of just focusing on what’s new out there.

(I suppose the ideal, as with many things in life, would be to find a balance. To enjoy what is already there, while occasionally keeping things interesting by experiencing the new.)

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
