Last night I used Haslinger Sheep Milk. Exceptional performance as always.

I lathers well, is slick and has a nice powdery fragrance. It is staying.

Marrakesh (Mystic Water) patchouli, cinnamon, citrus

Marrakesh uses iron-distilled patchouli oil that smells dark, rich, and earthy, like the smoky basil I find growing on the jungle floor. As it ages patchouli takes on an even more complex aroma, with green and fruity notes bubbling up to the surface, but it must be used with caution in perfumery. It seems that the iron from the vats can leech into the essential oil, and when exposed to air or other ingredients, it rusts, turning the perfume dark red, like day old blood. To satisfy my curiosity about this process, and secretly hoping to see 'water turned to wine,' I held a sample of Marrakesh open for several months. But no luck. The soap stayed a sandy brown right up to the last crumb. Maybe Michelle washes her patchouli with citric acid, which helps take the iron out of the oil.
