Folk medicine called for ylang ylang to soothe insect bites, and it was also thought to calm the nerves, relieve stress, and comfort spasms. Some herbalists recommend it as a treatment for inflamed or oily skin, which may be part of the reason it appears in many cosmetics. I can’t say I got any extra serenity from lathering this soap, but I did get a fine, close shave, and the fruity floral scent cheered my wife, who took a whiff and said, “This makes me want to put on my princess dress!”
