Cologne-Fougère (Le Père Lucien) lavender, rosemary, hay, bergamot
This is a fresh, green, but not overly bright fougère. Lighter than Paco Rabanne pour homme, simpler and less fruity than TSM Fougère, and sweeter than Penhaligon's English Fern, it’s a fougère that can be used every morning without surfeit. Taking Cyril’s advice, I’ve left the soap unlidded. As it slowly dries, it fills the room with its garden-crisp scent and becomes less fussy about loading. Today’s lather was exceptionally rich and a pleasure to use. I think I’ll stay with this soap for a few days until I learn to decipher its potential. Until now I’ve appreciated Cyril’s soaps mostly for their scent, but Cologne-Fougère may also help me puzzle out their highly considered performance.
