Abricot (Le Père Lucien) apricots & cream
Cyril recommends that you never put the lid on your pot of Abricot soap: «This will preserve all the soap’s qualities. It will dry, harden, and become more economical, and its fragrance will perfume your bathroom.» To be honest, it does smell more pleasant after it’s had a little time to breathe. When I first popped the lid, I got a slightly bitter note that reminded me of crushed apricot kernels. That disappeared when the tub had been aired, its place taken by Le Père Lucien’s buttery soap base that goes so well with sweet scents. Now several hours after using it, Abricot smells like fresh apricots in cream.
Abricot is an excellent soap for those who are in love with their moisturizer. Even with its Shea butter, this soap doesn't entirely remedy the chafing that sometimes results from a good close shave. Luckily, Fitjar Islands just sent me a sample of their excellent Slåtterøy aftershave moisturizer. But more on that tomorrow.
