Slåtterøy (Fitjar Islands) key lime, citron, coriander, cedar, clove
No, my snout is not sensitive enough to pick out all those scents in this soap at first sniff. In fact, I would have never guessed coriander oil was in the mix if I hadn’t read it in the list of ingredients. But now that I take another dip, it’s obviously there, but softly, and so nicely balanced with the cedar that it smells sweet and a little green. What Slåtterøy gives you in addition to the coriander is a creamy citrus opening and just enough clove hovering at the edges to persuade you that this scent could be a distant relative of some sun-bleached bay rum.
A few more breaths and Slåtterøy is starting to smell like a dustier, seedier coriander soap I tried a month back, Meißner Tremonia’s Indian Flavour. But Slåtterøy is a far milder, cleaner scent that can be used everyday without cloying.
The last few weeks I’ve been using Fitjar Island’s aftershave moisturizer. Jorunn generously included a sample with my order. It moistens deeply without leaving a shine on your chin, and I regret not having ordered a whole drum of it before Fitjar’s recent sale ended.
