Salters French Vetiver is as dirty as Salters Lavender is clean. I bought this soap to see if a soap with Sodium hydroxide as a first ingredient and yes sir it shaves just fine. Lather is persistent and slip is great. This morning I was caught off guard as to how sweet the scent is. I do enjoy this soap.

Beaudelaire (Barrister & Mann) licorice fougère

DanLaw tells us that Beaudelaire is available at West Coast Shaving again, but this time it’s done up in Barrister & Mann’s Omnibus base. I guess I’ll have to order a puck. It will be my third tub of this soap. Truth told, I’m still working on my first tub, an ancient jar of Glissant. It makes a great lather, but it’s no where as thick and creamy as the Excelsior or Omnibus bases. Still, I got a great shave this morning, and that scent … that leather and spice take on your classic fougère … it’s just lovely.
Lipripper660, the other day I took my jug of Salter’s French Vetiver and turned it into hand soap. I’ve never considered myself to be afflicted by obsessive-compulsive disorder, but lately I find myself looking for any reason to wash my hands just so I can wallow in the unspeakable reek of that great vetiver scent.
