Soapy Science - Doc's Special Blend

First time using this brand and I absolutely loved it. Fantastic scent and the performance was right up there with the best around IMHO

Oud-Santal t. (Le Père Lucien) ★★★☆☆ aloeswood & sandalwood

This is weird stuff. Unlike most other LPL soaps, Oud-Santal is made with tallow and Shea butter. You might expect these ingredients to yield a rich glossy lather, but more often than not I get a light, dry pot of suds that looks pretty vegetal to me. It doesn't come together without several minutes careful agitation, and I have to be careful with the water. It's almost hydrophobic. The slickness is there, and I always get a close shave, but the cushion can be on-again off-again depending on the alignment of the stars. The scent is a ho-hum mix of synthetic oud and sandalwood. I'll finish this tub, but I hesitate to recommend it, especially considering the price. The stainless tub it comes in, by the way, is fantastic.
