What soap/cream did you use today?

Eucris c. (Geo. F. Trumper) cumin, currants, lily of the valley, oak moss

I couldn't let October slip by without a shave with Eucris. It's one of my favorite Fall fragrances. It smells like fading gardens, rusty tools, and sweaty gloves. There's some fruit and flowers in the mix, too, but mostly it's a powerful ode to oak moss. I'm not sure I've got enough backbone to wake up to this brawny scent every morning, but an occasional encounter is a genuine pleasure.

I've given away most of my creams. Without an exception they smelled great, but their cushion was too often lacking. Eucris was spared the purge because of its unique aroma. To be honest, though, its performance was nothing to boast about. That all changed this morning when I decided to use twice as much cream as I have in the past. Instead of one almond-sized gob, I squeezed out two. Oddly, I didn't get double the lather, but the lather I got was twice as thick and as slick as before. And the best part was the finish. This cream had a reputation for leaving me dry and cracked. But today, right after the shave and for the next twelve hours, my face felt sublime. Never hurts to use more soap.

Eucris is AWESOME! I love the scent and your tip of "more product" is spot on. How I wish Trumper would return to a latherable soap puck. I too really don't care for creams much but have kept Eucris and Salters Vetiver around for the scent.

Wholly Kaw Chypre Rose Concerto Special Edition

Acqua di Parma Colonia shaving cream (original). Although the cream makes wonderful thick lather, its fragrance is just not quite as good as that of the corresponding Colonia soft soap in the jar.

Anne Bonny vol. 2 v. (Dr. Jon's Shaving Soap Co.) black tea & bay rum

At last a bay rum not just to be endured but enjoyed. The addition of black tea to limey bay rum is brilliant. It smooths out the edges without destroying the tartness and reminds you that good bay rum smells of more than mulled fruit punch. Yes, there's some clove, but it's there just to lend warmth. I didn't find it disagreeable at all. In fact the only inelegant part of today's shave was the label art.

I love (Andrew) Siliski’s soap. Wonderful scents but more importantly a really great soap base.

This V3 is even better. Handles all kinds of water, incorporates both slickness and its follow up residual slickness beautifully, and might be the creamiest base out there as he includes cocoa butter right up top.

The Herbal Medley is a wonderful minty herbaceous bomb with some florals as well. Looking forward to Meditation later in the week.
