Alright, y'all have not failed me yet so I will continue to follow your recommendations. I have two Derby blades left! Waiting on deck I have: Big Ben, 7am Hi Platinum, 7 o'clock Super Stainless, and Astra SP. what should be next?

My vote would be the Astra SP's. A very solid, all round crowd pleasing blade.

Another vote for Astra. Any of those are better than a Derby though.

Astra SP is the blade I recommend to ALL beginners as it seems to be the most well rounded.

Astra it is! Thanks guys. If my shaves keep getting closer and more comfortable with better blades, I'm not gonna know what to do with myself.

I agree with the Astras. A fine all-around blade that should pair very nicely with most DE razors. Have fun, Brent. Winking

I wish they would work for me. My shave's with them are always rough and uncomfortable.

That's a shame, Clayton. I find them one of the best all-around blades for a myriad of DE razors.

My go to blades are Astra SP and Voskhods. I always get nice shave with either of those. I have what i would describe as medium beard hair texture, not coarse, but not soft either.

I've never really had a "great" shave from Astra SP, but I know it works really well for most people so it's one I recommend the most. In my experience, Derby and Dorco are the ones people tend to have the most issues with.
