I just received a gift last night, so of course I had to use it immediately...EverReady 1007 set with a Vie Long horsehair knot that is flipping HUGE!! I don;t have a photo of it yet, but this beast is the biggest thing in my den. At least 26-28mm, and soft, soft, sooooooft...luxuriously soft with zero scritch. And the lather...well...the lather was fantastic.

Not bad for a surprise gift!

Chris, you’ll have to post a picture at some point. I have a 26 mm horse hair brush that I enjoy using from time to time, but it’s best suited for painting strokes, as there is some scritch present at the tips of the hairs. Very glad to hear you’re enjoying this Vie-Long! It’s not always about the badgers. Smile

Sounds like you had good luck with the horse hair. Like Matsilainen, the only horse brush I had was a Vie Long as well that I could only use paint strokes because it was ridiculously scritchy otherwise. It was promptly removed and replaced with a Maggard black synthetic knot. It's a much happier brush now! How's the funk on yours? Mine smelled horrific!

No funk at all. No scritch at all. It head lathers like a freaking champ!

With that all said, the guy that sent it to me used it quite a bit before cleaning it and sending it to me. I imagine he removed the dunk and softened it up a little bit, but even still... I love it!
