What's the deal with Haslinger?

What is the considered opinion on Haslinger? I read this review http://damnfineshave.com/thread-review-h...=haslinger,  Haslinger is getting a lot of play around the Internet but little here. Is this just the fad of the year?

I tried Haslinger Schafmilch today. I don't try to compare, review or rate soaps other than to say, for the price, I don't get it.  At $4.25 - $5/oz, this is not cheap soap. There is cheaper stuff out there I found that was better. Thats not to say its bad because its not. Its good. But for the price, I don't see the value. So whats the attraction?

I have a puck they sent me with my PILS razor but haven't tried yet. I guess I'll have to to see that's the dealio.

I haven't tried it yet but would like to if there is a scent worth trying. However, from all the reviews I've seen, scent is not one of the reasons to buy this soap. There are plenty of soaps with exceptional performacne and scents to match, that I see myself passing on this one. I think the explosion of artisans in the market have made it to where amazing scents and excellent performacne are the rule, and no longer the exception. I don't doubt at all that Haslinger is a great soap though.

I think you are right. I didn't think it was anything special. It was surely a decent product, very good, but nothing worthy of the play its currently getting which leads me to think its the "fad of the month/year". But truly I think some consumers have no clue as to the actual price of the product. They only see $8 or $9 and think its cheap when in fact, its fairly expensive.

Since to my nose its scentless, its fine to use in a hot scuttle for hot lather.

I believe some are buying them in bulk from a European company, reducing the cost dramatically.

I've used Schafmilch and found the performance to be on par with Tabac (excellent). Easy to lather, thick and slick. Did not like the scent one bit. I have a puck of their sandalwood waiting for a turn some time this year.

I always pay around $4.50 a puck.
I put it on par with Czech & Speake,/Valobra, SdM, and even Pannacrema Nuavia Blu/Rossa.
I think it's the finest soap made today.
The lack of bells & whistles is fine by me.
No trimmings needed...Haslinger is that good.
