I’ve never used a first-generation Blackbird, and Shane recently told me that not too many were produced before he rounded out the corners ever so slightly. From what I know, the first-generation razors have the exact same specs as the current ones, but there was just that tiny rounding of the corners, so that they wouldn’t feel sharp against the skin. Blackland Razors, please correct me if I’m wrong.
Which base do you prefer?
The safety bar and the open comb behave very similarly in my experience. Also, I don’t notice a real difference in skin feel, when it comes to machined vs. black oxide. That being said, I may just slightly prefer the machined SB to the black oxide OC. But I love them both. Exceptional razors.
