OK so a bit morbid, but...

I'm well into the second half of the life expectancy table.

So, I ask for input.  Assuming I leave this life ahead of my sweetheart, what should she do with all my shaving stuff?

Give it to someone?
Trash it?
Other ideas?

She isn't the type to post it on any forums or fleasbayish sites.  It will need to be a simple solution.

Thoughts?

Interesting question. Any sons, son-in-laws?

I've thought about this too. My wife wouldn't know the Wolfman TI from a Yaqi razor.
I've thought about putting a trusted shave buddies name in with my razors.maybe he could cash them out and give home his pick of the litter
I keep most razors in plastic containers and I've put the names and gaps on some

You should explicitly detail how and where to dispose of collectables with annual value updates. For consumables, dictate a PIF designee or programme such as our Needs PIF to have her ship to. Get the recipient's address and contact info so there nothing to undertake but packing.

The primary takeaway is that this is a traumatic period for the surviving family. Make it as easy as possible

In the event that you don't outlive me, I'd be more than happy to look after your beloved shaving gear for you when the good Lord calls you home. Kidding, obviously. Do you have any kids? Any good friends that are really into the hobby? A favorite barber that would want to display the hardware in their shop? If you're feeling generous, maybe DanLaw or one of the other members of the forum could hold a series of PIFs in your honor when the time comes. How much stuff are we talking here? Could we start a museum for you?

Living on the edge
do you have a picture of any of the stuff?
I may be able to offer sage advice.

This is a pertinent thread for me. According to the mortality tables, I have about 14-15 more years to live. No male in my family has ever outlived the predictions.

I have no son. I have no grandson. I have no nephews.

My son-in-law is in his late 40s and shaves with an electric razor. I do not know whether he will ever be interested in wet shaving. He sees shaving as a chore that needs to be completed as quickly as possible.

My best hope is that my only granddaughter will marry someone whom I can interest in wet shaving. Otherwise, thousands of dollars of shaving gear might end up in the dumpster along with all the other stuff I have accumulated over the years. Shaving is only one of my hobbies. My wife is not the kind of woman who would sponsor an estate sale or advertise things on eBay or Craigslist. It will either get donated to charity or be trashed. She is looking forward to the day when she can get rid of all my stuff. I will no longer be able to say "I might need that."

I've got no family to leave my stuff to, and @ 72 years old I suspect I'm not long for this world.

All I know for sure is I'm not taking any of it with me when I go to the next world.  Wink

Man, it sounds like we need to start a non-profit that everyone can leave their collections to. The non-profit could then give everything away to deserving Damn Fine Shave forum members.

Funny, I have been thinking the same thing. I am 80 years old and my sons have no interest in DE shaving. I can leave the brushes, soaps, and creams since they use those products. However, the DEs are another issue.
