Help me out please.  What does CBL stand for?

Thanks

CBL is, I believe, the artisans initials. He makes top tier soaps.

https://cblsoap.com

He will be adding more scents in the near future.

For me Grooming Dept is the very best shaving soap ever made.
After this Tallow & Steel and Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations new Premium Formula are both exceptional.
These three make up most of what I use.

Then I find a gap in performance and then the rest, for me, which includes several in everyone else's tier 1 (in no particular order):
Declaration Grooming
Wholly Kaw
PannaCrema Nuavia
Barrister & Mann Reserve and Excelsior bases
Sudsy Soapery

I have not tried that one yet. If you tell me it's as good as Grooming Dept I'd consider picking up a tub.

I find it to be a sizable improvement over the donkey base. King of Bourbon is not to be missed imo. For me it’s:

GD
T&S
WK

Then JUST below

The club/Ariana & Evans
Talbot
Declaration Icarus and bison
Lisa’s

What I'm looking for more than anything else it absolutely outstanding post shave to the point that it actually changes your skin for the better. That's what I get from Grooming Dept, Tallow & Steel and Lisa's new Premium version. A seriously positive moisturizing effect that makes my face feel exceptional.

Declaration, Wholly Kaw and the others I do get some skin changing effects but not to the point of the others. To truly test a soap I have to use a lesser soap (like Tabac for example) for a week to ten days to dry my skin back out and then use the new soap exclusively for ten days to two weeks taking some mental notes along the way. A huge pain to do this but really the only way for me to know just how good a soap is.

Have you done anything like this with the new WK base, because if you're using Grooming Dept most days it's going to make every soap you try better than it really is? Once it gets your skin really hydrated it makes lesser soaps seem like stellar performers for at least a couple shaves or until your skin dries back out again.

No I don’t have the attention span to approach it with the same vigor as you, but I will say that I have used for 5 or so days in a row with no degradation of skin quality and the performance improvement is also a very noticeable for myself.
