SCShaver, to answer your question, the G-bar, to me, is in the mild to medium range. It would be a great intro to the GEM world to see if you even get on with the blades. Cool then I'll give your G-bar a shot then. Maybe I can acquire a Damaskeene one day if I dig the G-bar.

Even though they use the same blade, the Damaskeene is quite a different shaving experience. Not really in terms of aggression (it's probably a little more aggressive), but in terms of "face feel", if that makes any sense. I like them both.

I can highly recommend the acrylic brush/razor stand that Jeff made. It is sturdy and works really well for all except the very largest brushes, and it's a work of art.
