I guess I should have read this post before I bought my 2nd straight (Max Sprecher). Hopefully it works out for the best  Big Grin
Any recommendations where to buy a good strop that won't break the bank.

For me, the best one like others said is to start with Feather DX, and you can use Pro Guard blades. It is easy get used to. 
After couple of shaves you can start using pro blades. It uses 50mm blades and make it easier to go to straight razors after that.

After you got a straight razor, if you would like to hone it, lapping films are the cheapest way to start with.
If you like honing, then you can get whetstones or natural stones.
