If you last long enough to have skin in this game... pun intended..... I surmise you will learn what I did years ago.... you get what you pay for... I have had countless razors come and go and like many when I started wet shaving I bought everything... of course back then CNC wasn’t a thing.. you had very few options.... I can remember when IKON was considered a premium maker... end of the day for any newbies that may read this you have more options now and several razors that while you may have to drop a Benjamin or two on them your kids kids will use them if they are so inclined.... at the end of the day you will end up reaching for the same two or three razors daily regardless of how many adorn your den... make them ones that will last regardless of who makes them..... someday your sons and or daughters will be glad you did....

I have been wet shaving since my teens and I am well into my late 40s. Things last long as well as you keep them, so I agree.

There are some of my dads razors that I like and some that I didn’t. So it’s subjective that an inherited razor will be liked by ones children.

If you take care of any razor, it should last a long time.

My cousins kid didn’t like the fatboy he got handed down. He ended up buying a red tip instead. Now it’s just an heirloom item. As a parent you would hope and want that your kids use a razor you have, but it’s no guarantee that they will want it of like it.

It all depends what you want and need. A CNC machined $300 razor doesn’t shave better than a $25 razor IMO. A razor is what is good for your needs. There are many choices and that is great for everyone. So everyone wins.

Here are some side by side photos between the Emperor and the Super adjustable.

I do realize that setting 1 on both razors are not the same but I made photos for settings “1, 5 ,9” on the Super Adjustable and setting “1,5,max” on the Emperor. The Emperor has settings 1 to 9 and past 9 is another setting called “max”

The con I give the Emperor is that the adjustment arrow is hard to see on this model. The Bronze and Cognac model doesn’t have this issue.

Setting 1 on the super adjustable is below

Setting 5 on the Super Adjustable is below

Etching should have been a different color. A little difficult to see.

First test shave tomorrow.
