I have one and it is beautiful. I agree that it is milder side. With a feather I get a pretty darn good shave. But I don't think it's as good as my blackland. I may send it back or BST as well. Other than looks I'm not sure i would keep it because it's a touch too mild. .68 and .95 didn't work for me but I might try it again.

Shave two on the Feather today. Tried varying the angle from steep to shallow... Slight improvement but jawline still disappoints. *sigh*

Tomorrow I'll try the shim and see what happens.

I'm assuming the design of this is identical to the stainless versions. I loved the look and workmanship of the razor, but did not like the shallow angle required. There was very little blade feel for me and it resulted in a mild shave. I ended up selling it. That bronze is a real looker, though Cool

I have word from Matt that they're going to be designing other bronze base plates, caps and handles! So if you're not quite happy, hold out for a bit - or return it (and rebuy later) as there's no timeframe for any of that yet. FWIW, the returns are fairly limited so far.

Nope, it's a completely new design as compared to the stainless and titanium offerings.

First try at shimming failed. If anything, it made the shave a bit rough. But I've discovered why...

The beauty of the Timeless Razor(s) are that they clamp down on the blade over a large area - and pretty far out, close to the blade's edges. My shim, which works on other razors that don't do this... Just won't work in the Timeless; it's too narrow. The trick is to cut a blade down as little as possible; so as to stay out of the way, but be full engaged when the razor head (cap/base) are tightened up. Basically trimming off about twice (or thrice) the width of the edge's bevel worth on both sides and no more. Mine currently goes back to the side notches behind the edge; too far.

Full details of my (first) shimming attempt (with pictures) can be seen here.

Thinking about getting this razor.
My preference is not for aggressive razors, for instance I like the Merkur Futur and Progress on their mildest settings.
What do you think?

I was afraid it would be too mild. I can run mild razors daily but that's not my preference. I only shave 3 or 4 times a week and occasionally let it go for a week. That's precisely why I love adjustables. They can be any razor I need.

More baseplates/handles is promising.

Go figure... Had a great shave with it today. Difference? A few days growth. Tomorrow will be the real test.

Ah, good to hear. Thank you for clarifying!
